the .gnowsis directory is the place where gnowsis stores its configuration and data files. The directory will be created automatically on the first startup and you find it in your home directory. This is

• on windows machines: c:\Documents and Settings\johndoe\.gnowsis
• on unix/linux: /home/johndoe/.gnowsis
• on MacOsX: /Users/johndoe/.gnowsis

If you install a brand new gnowsis, it would be wise to delete or rename this folder, because gnowsis doesn't upgrade very well.
